This 11-day panoramic journey connects the mountain city of Chongqing, the spectacular karst landscapes of Wulong, the Wujiang River region, Zhangjiajie’s dramatic sandstone peaks, historic Fenghuang Ancient Town and finally the modern metropolis of Shanghai.
The route combines extraordinary natural scenery with ethnic minority culture and vibrant urban experiences. Explore deep gorges and natural stone bridges, mist-covered mountains, ancient towns and celebrated city landmarks before finishing among Shanghai’s historic architecture and futuristic skyline.
Designed as a smooth one-way journey with limited backtracking, the itinerary balances outdoor exploration, cultural discovery and relaxed city experiences, offering a varied introduction to the landscapes of southwest China and the metropolitan character of eastern China.
Itinerary
Upon arrival in Chongqing, your private driver will meet you outside the baggage claim area. During the transfer, your driver will introduce some of Chongqing’s major landmarks and their historical background.
After settling in, explore the lively Jiefangbei commercial district before visiting Bayi Food Street, where you can sample local favourites such as Chongqing-style hot and sour noodles and traditional sweet rice dumplings.
Continue with a ride on the Yangtze River Cableway, crossing high above the river, before seeing the famous Liziba monorail passing through a residential building.
As night falls, visit Hongya Cave and admire its brightly illuminated stilted buildings built into the hillside.
Finish the evening with a walk across Qiansimen Bridge, enjoying spectacular views over Chongqing’s illuminated riverfront.
Travel into the dramatic landscapes of Wulong.
Visit the world-famous Three Natural Bridges, an extraordinary karst landscape of enormous stone arches and deep gorges.

Continue into the spectacular Wujiang River Gallery region.

Continue by the famous Bailong Elevator to Yuanjiajie.

Afterwards, travel to Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport and fly to Shanghai Hongqiao Airport.

Begin with a leisurely walk along the Bund, where grand historic buildings reveal more than a century of Shanghai’s international history.
Continue to Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, experiencing the energy of one of the city’s busiest commercial districts.
As evening approaches, take a traditional ferry across the Huangpu River.
