Overview
This 10-day journey connects the modern cities, coastal scenery and spectacular karst landscapes of Guangdong and Guangxi in one smooth and diverse route.
Beginning in Shenzhen, experience the energetic atmosphere of one of China’s most modern coastal cities before continuing to Guangzhou to discover traditional Lingnan architecture, historic neighbourhoods and authentic Cantonese culture.
The journey then travels west into Guangxi, where the scenery shifts dramatically from bustling cities to Guilin’s limestone peaks, the Li River and the peaceful countryside of Yangshuo. Continue through Nanning to the spectacular Detian Waterfall on the China–Vietnam border before finishing beside the sea in Beihai.
Designed as an efficient one-way journey with minimal backtracking, the itinerary combines urban discovery, cultural experiences, mountain and river landscapes, regional cuisine and relaxing coastal moments.
Itinerary
Upon arrival in Shenzhen, your private driver will meet you outside the baggage claim area. During the transfer to your hotel, your driver will introduce some of Shenzhen’s major landmarks and their historical background.
After settling in, take a relaxing walk along the waterfront promenade of Shenzhen Bay Park.
Enjoy the sea breeze as the coastline, bridges and modern skyline come together to create a distinctly contemporary coastal landscape.
Later, visit OH Bay and ride the giant Ferris wheel for panoramic views across the bay.
As evening falls and the city lights come on, enjoy the vibrant night scenery before finishing the day with fresh Cantonese-style seafood.
Begin the day at the observation deck of Ping An Finance Centre, one of Shenzhen’s most recognisable skyscrapers.
From high above the city, take in sweeping views of Shenzhen’s dense skyline, road network and surrounding urban landscape.
Continue to Window of the World, a theme park featuring miniature recreations of famous landmarks from around the globe.
In the late afternoon, explore Dongmen Old Street, one of Shenzhen’s long-established commercial districts.
Walk through its lively shops and food stalls, sample local snacks and experience the everyday energy of the city.
Take a high-speed train from Shenzhen North Railway Station to Guangzhou South Railway Station, with the journey taking approximately half an hour.
After arrival, begin your exploration of Guangzhou’s historic districts.
Visit the Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, one of the finest examples of traditional Lingnan architecture. Admire its intricate brick carvings, ceramic sculptures and woodwork.
Continue to Yongqing Fang, where restored arcade streets and traditional Xiguan houses preserve the architectural character of old Guangzhou.
Later, explore Beijing Road, one of the city’s most historic commercial streets. Browse local shops and sample traditional Cantonese snacks while experiencing Guangzhou’s lively evening atmosphere.
Begin the day on Shamian Island, where tree-lined streets and European-style historic buildings create a distinctive atmosphere.
Continue to Lychee Bay, a scenic old neighbourhood characterised by waterways, bridges and traditional Lingnan houses.
Experience classic Cantonese tea culture at a traditional local teahouse, enjoying tea with a selection of delicate dim sum dishes and discovering the leisurely rhythm of Guangzhou life.
In the late afternoon, ascend Canton Tower for panoramic views across the city.
After dark, board a Pearl River cruise and enjoy Guangzhou’s illuminated skyline from the water.
Take a high-speed train from Guangzhou South Railway Station to Guilin, with the journey taking approximately three hours.
After arrival and some time to settle in, begin exploring Guilin at Elephant Trunk Hill, the city’s best-known natural landmark.
Continue with a walk around the Two Rivers and Four Lakes scenic area, where water, bridges, pavilions and karst hills blend naturally with the cityscape.
In the evening, explore the historic East-West Alley, browsing traditional-style shops and local food stalls.
Try an authentic bowl of Guilin rice noodles and experience the relaxed atmosphere of the old city.
Board a three-star sightseeing cruise from Mopanshan Pier and travel downstream along the Li River towards Yangshuo.
Along the journey, admire dramatic limestone peaks reflected in clear water and search for the famous landscape featured on the back of China’s RMB 20 banknote.
After arriving in Yangshuo, walk along the lively West Street, known for its cafés, shops and relaxed small-town atmosphere.
Later, take a traditional bamboo raft along the Yulong River.
Drift quietly through farmland, villages and karst peaks, enjoying one of the region’s most peaceful countryside experiences.
In the evening, you may choose to attend either Impression Liu Sanjie or Romance Park Guilin, both of which use music, performance and visual effects to present the culture and traditions of Guangxi.
Begin the day with a cycling journey through the Ten-Mile Gallery near the Yulong River.
Ride between rice fields, villages and dramatic karst mountains while enjoying the peaceful rural landscape.
Continue to Silver Cave, a spectacular limestone cave filled with stalactites, stalagmites and other formations created over millions of years.
Later, visit Xingping Ancient Town, where stone-paved streets and traditional riverside buildings preserve the character of northern Guangxi.
In the evening, enjoy Yangshuo’s famous beer fish, one of the area’s signature local dishes.
Finish the day with a relaxed evening in town.
Take a high-speed train from Yangshuo to Nanning, with the journey taking approximately two and a half hours.
After arrival, visit Qingxiu Mountain, often described as the city’s green lung.
Walk through lush gardens and forested hills before reaching viewpoints overlooking Nanning’s urban landscape and surrounding rivers.
In the evening, head to Zhongshan Road Food Street.
Sample a bowl of traditional Laoyou rice noodles, along with regional snacks, pickled fruits and local barbecue while experiencing Nanning’s lively street-food culture.
Leave Nanning and travel towards Chongzuo to visit the spectacular Detian Waterfall, one of Asia’s largest transnational waterfalls.
Located along the China–Vietnam border, the waterfall is formed by the Guichun River as it cascades through a dramatic landscape of karst mountains and lush vegetation.
After exploring the waterfall, continue to the coastal city of Beihai.
Visit the famous Silver Beach, known for its fine white sand and wide shoreline.
Take a leisurely walk along the beach and watch the sunset over the sea.
In the evening, explore Qiaogang Style Street, where seafood, Vietnamese-influenced snacks and local street food reflect Beihai’s multicultural coastal character.
Begin the final morning with a traditional coastal activity during low tide.
Walk across the tidal flats and search for small crabs, clams and other shellfish while experiencing a more authentic side of local fishing life.
Later, visit a seafood market to select fresh local catches, which can be prepared nearby for a final seafood meal.
Afterwards, prepare for departure and travel to the railway station or airport according to your onward arrangements.
